Dinner with family and sis's BF today, since my parent's birthdays are close, my sis and I decided to bring the family out for a combined birthday dinner. We went to that place called "Sun with Moon" or "Sun and Moon".. not sure, at Central.

Hmmm, complaints about the Singapore Toy and Comic Convention? I've got a few.

Queuing was one heck of a major problem at the event. I queued up for almost an hour in the morning before they went "You don't have to queue now to get the pass, you can just enter the hall."

Of cos I still had to queue up to get the "passport" to redeem stuffs.
When I finally got to the front of the queue, the person at the counter had the stupidity to say "Oh we've ran out of them at THIS counter, please queue up to get it at the one beside me. Although reluctant to do it, he was finally convinced to ask the person manning the counter right next to him to pass him one. Sorry dude, I know it was very exhausting to ask a person next to you to pass you a tiny piece of card, possibly even life threatening. I will make sure his sacrifice was not in vain.

Unfortunately, the card turned out to be a complete and utter waste of time.

They strangely ended up taking this no queuing policy to the extreme.

At all events I've been too, people seem to queue up to get stuff signed, but from what I saw at the Toki Doki table, it was pretty disgusting and shameful. Its almost like a mosh pit with people crowding around the table shoving things out to get it signed.

At least I get to look up on good artists and got some fancy swag.

Got to the Singapore Toy and Comic Convention again today after getting cosplay related things with

Nevar. Met up with

ah_xiu and we made our way up to the convention hall, determined to get as much goods from the Toki Doki booth as we possibly can.

Only managed to make it out with a pair of Toki Doki earrings for

oub1iette. Hope you like them, for some reason my sis said they don't look like Toki Doki goods '_', go figure... anyhoo, was supposed to get 3 stickers for the purchase and they accidentally grabbed four for me, so yeah, yay for me. Hope your mum loves things with skulls on them... Couldn't get Simon Legno to sign anything though cos it was a mob at the table. Oh I got a fancy T shirt from Gilamon, hella impressive comics and art. I always wanted a topless lady and tentacles on a t shirt.

In the end, the three of us went to get dinner at Muthu's
Sadly Qiang, the restaurant may have gotten all fancy, it doesn't hold a candle to how it used to be.

Weird that I'm starting to blog about my life again. I really must be a glutton for punishment.

Woo.. god, the Singapore Toy and Comic Convention's crazy. The queue at the morning was shit, and the pre registering was kinda in vain since the organisation's total crap. And halfway queue they went "no need to queue now." Bad thing to say cos that is just inviting Singaporeans to stampede. Initially went there with my dad but I think he left just a bit after he got into the hall, cos he was disgusted with the crowd. Ran into my uncle though, he teaches at SP and they had a booth there to promote their course I think.

Anyways, met up with Landel who I havent' seen in ages and

oub1iette. A little walkabout later and we met up with

David Tang. Walkabouts later and kinda go over to RC booth to welcome the

KYQ back to Singapore.

Interestingly enough, I met this cool person who has a file full of sketches from famous comic artists and some writers, nice chap and he was more than happy to let us flip through his stuff. He has a lot of huge named art peoples in there.

Aw, only read in the papers today, Stan Winston, the chap who did various special effects for movie has passed away.

He has done effects for films such as Terminator, Aliens, Predator and Jurrasic Park. He was from a time when speccial effects is mainly make up, miniatures and animatronics.
He will be missed ;o;

Well, just got back from watching The Incredible Hulk with mum and bro. Went out after work to meet up with them before the movie.
I have to say its nice to see the Hulk being comic bookish and not a soap opera. More detailed review in the day I guess.. too tired to type words in a goodly order.l

Would've happy birthday-ed her earlier but yeah... I got home kinda late.

Hmm, Poh Kim' DVD releases of movies here are shit again. Crafty of them to release Rambo 4 and not put any notice on the box of the movie being the full screen edition. That'll mean that they pretty much have the license tied up and it'll not be able to be distributed by someone who does a better job releasing movies.

Won't say much about Rambo 4 but the hyper violent ridiculousness at the 2nd half kinda made the the horrors and cruelty of certain peoples thing a bit moot. But nice of them to try to add a bit more character development and drama like the First Blood. Nice of Poh Kim to censor swearing and strangely not the violence.

They should stick to releasing dodgey TV drama serials and cheap asian movies.

Hmmm, the Rambo arcade lightgun shoty type game from Sega looked pretty crap and knowing Sega's history of making arcade games with bad voice acting and wacky cheese, the game is pretty much doomed to failure.

Till now.
Sega's choice of promoting the game just made it 2000x more awesome.

Just got back from watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with my family.
One of the many perks of my job, I suppose X3

Fun ride, as usual, its typical action packed set pieces after another. And the comedy never stops. The story and the ending is a bit of a let down this time, but the action keeps coming lots of little teases to the previous films too. They claimed that the movie takes a very old school route for the action scenes and it shows. Things do get a bit too wacky in the end imho, but still a fun ride. Shia Labeouf's addition to the gang turned out ok after all. Usually one gets weary of young spunky characters, but he doesn't get annoying. Should've trusted him since he did a good job being a non annoying spunky "go get'em" kid in the Transformers movie. Cate Blanchett on the other hand, she seems to be kind of an overkill to cast her for the role but she did well, just that the role kinda seems like its too simple for someone of her calibre.

I guess part of the fun in watching it is that Indiana Jones is my fav Lucasfilm franchise, not Star Wars, sadly. I've never dreamt that I'd ever get a chance to see an Indiana Jones movie in the cinemas.

Isn't it convenient that legends always have useful bits of info to tell you where to go next.

Interesting enough, hanging out with Tang on Saturday kinda made me miss hanging out at Hayase meets. That and the lack of any interest in self published comics.

That and http://www.sgtoyandcomiccon.com is happening soon. Didn't notice but Simone Legno (The Toki Doki designer guy) will be there.. Hmmm.
Would be nice if conventions here offer some kind artist alley thing at an affordable price. Hmm... I heard they have.. but ah well.

Seems like internets have died in my home. Fucking thing has been ch oking and crawling for months now. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Hopefully this affects most people in the neighbourhood and the withdrawal from internets will cause the wow addicts to kill themselves out of frustration and thus free the nets for normal use once more by normal peoples.
